Events in the yard and the cellars

  • In the dance studio, you can see Existence – 99 firewood, a work created by Mineo Kuroda at the Saari Residence in 2009.
  • In the machinery hall, you can see an oak-themed exhibition. An old oak was felled in February 2014 in the park at the Saari Residence and now you can learn about the plans to continue its existence in the yard. Designers and artisan carpenters of the Woodism team will design and make pieces of furniture from the old oak, giving a new life to felled tree and continuing its story.
  • At the barn, there is a bird-house workshop where you can build a home for insects or the pied flycatcher.
  • As in previous years, textile artist Annika Tavast and cultural producer Anu Taivainen will organise an ecological crafts workshop for children and those young at heart. Natural materials that can be found locally will be used in the workshop and children will be able to make toys and musical instruments, among others.
  • You should also take the opportunity to see the birds of the nearby waterway. Guidance is provided by the bird enthusiasts at the nearby Silakkari birdwatching point.
  •  Coffee service in front of the main building. If it’s raining, coffee will be served in the machinery hall.
