The Saari Residence, maintained by Kone Foundation, is a residence located in Mynämäki, Southwest Finland, for artists of all disciplines and nationalities.

The Saari Residence offers artists and reseachers an excellent opportunity to focus undisturbed on creative work in the scenic surroundings of a rural manor house, as well as opportunities for interaction with other residents. The Saari Residence’s historical surroundings, versatile workspaces and peaceful location near a nature reserve and bird wetlands help to fade away all distractions. Residencies are available to individual artists working in various artistic fields; translators, curators and critics; and artistic groups (working groups and organisations with a business ID) of all disciplines as well as researchers working under a Kone Foundation grant. The Saari Residence offers artists and researchers the opportunity for peace and tranquillity, and the possibility to focus on their creative work undisturbed in Mynämäki, South-Western Finland. Artists and researchers also encounter each other at the Saari Residence. From September to April, 8 artists and researchers of all different disciplines work at the residence for two-month periods at a time. The Saari Invited Artist will also be living and working at the Saari Residence during the individual residencies. The Saari Residence has its own community artist, who nurtures the relationship between the residence and local community through artistic means. Read more about our residency guests

Consequently, opportunities for interaction between often very different residents abound as does the possibility for breaking the boundaries between their disciplines. The Saari Well is an opportunity for artists and researchers working at the residence to meet, share, and leave their mark on each other’s thoughts, work and the Saari Residence.
