Acceptance of offered residency
Please notify Saari Residence secretary Anna Kortelainen before the end of October about whether or not you accept the residency offered.
Payment of residency stipends
Residency grants include a monthly stipend of € 1 700. Stipends can only be paid to those actually residing at Saari Residence. In order to be entitled to the grant, residents must be staying at the Residence for at least 21 days per month.
Kone Foundation stipends are paid on the third working day of each month.
In order for stipends to be paid, please send your bank accounts details to our Tehtaankatu office.
If the stipend is to be paid to an overseas bank account, you must provide us with your International Bank Account Number (IBAN), and also your Bank Identifier (BIC) code, also known as SWIFT code.
All bank account details need to be sent to the Kone Foundation office at least two weeks before the first payment of the stipend is due to be paid.
Arriving at Saari Residence
Residency periods start on the first day of the month. If the month in which you begin your residency begins on a weekend, the period starts on the first working day following it. Please arrange your arrival with Anna Kortelainen.
Saari Residence is situated around 30 km from the city of Turku and Turku airport. There is a regular flight service between Turku and Helsinki, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
Turku is well served by bus and train connections to Helsinki; the journey typically takes around 2 hours. Several buses also run daily between Helsinki-Vantaa airport and Turku. Local buses from Turku bus station will take you to within 2 km of the Residence. For details about bus timetables, please contact Anna Kortelainen.
Living at Saari Residence
At Saari Residence, you will have a workspace and an apartment. Apartments are equipped with a kitchen or kitchenette, a shower cubicle and a toilet. Bedding and towels will be provided.
Subject to agreement, residents may also have the use of the communal kitchen.
Saari Residence is located in the district of Mynämäki, about 10 km from Mynämäki town centre. Mynämäki has all the usual shops and services of any small town, with supermarkets, banks, chemists, an off-licence and a few restaurants and cafés. The closest district library, village shop and restaurant are within about 2km from Saari Residence.
Once a week residents may get a lift by car from the Residence to the centre of Mynämäki. Bicycles are also available for residents’ use.
